Salvatore Piccolo’s history is woven, like the thread of a fabric, with the innermost soul of Naples, with its people, with it’s past, but also to its vitality and its desire to reinvent itself.
Way back in 1351, in the church of S. Eligio al Mercato, the Confraternita dei Sartori (Tailors Association) was established and, with it, the famous Neapolitan tailoring academy. Salvatore’s mother, Maria Cavagnoli, was also proficient in this ancient and refined art and made bespoke shirts from home in the same district of Piazza Mercato.

At the age of fifteen Salvatore was already working for a shirt factory as a warehouseman. In the eyes of the eager boy, filled with dreams and desires, that warehouse crammed full of fabrics seemed like a treasure trove full of wonderful secrets to be elicited and held close to the heart. The following year Salvatore decided to open with his mother a little store of shirts to measure.

Day after day, client-by-client, Salvatore learnt all about the intricate cutting techniques and design. In few years, the demand of shirts has grown and the little store has become a factory, so famous Neapolitan and international personalities have appreciated Salvatore and his works.

His real passion and his refined and original creation have became Salvatore’s instruments to go abroad so his shirts have gone around the world, to London, Monte Carlo, Qatar and Azerbaijan. Everywhere Salvatore answers to his loyal customers requests. His creations are distributed in the most prestigious retail in the world.

But Salvatore’s want to take on new challenges is big so he starts to create jackets, ties and foulards and he proposes a refined and contemporary total-look for man.
Just like his beloved Naples, Salvatore is not longer a city but universe. He experiments; he mixes inspiration, colours, and accents and flavours combing the English, American and Italian style with Neapolitan artisan skills and manages to successfully redefine a classic, without necessarily distorting it or reinventing it.

Salvatore Piccolo was born lucky; as they say in Italy he was ‘born with a shirt on his back’ (a bespoke shirt, naturally) after acquiring the fine art of “tailor-made” he began to design and make other garments with the same resolute passion: jackets, gilet, scarves and suits. Thereby, creating an entire collection and his own signature style.

Salvatore Piccolo’s exemplary aptitude as an outstanding representative of traditional Neapolitan tailoring has refined and matured over time, resulting in a more cosmopolitan and contemporary feel. His determination and his innate curiosity, combined with the desire to improve and the ability to absorb stimuli and inspirations from his travels or from meetings with his most illustrious clients and important names in international retail, have all helped raise the positioning, the style and the prospects of the Salvatore Piccolo brand.

A brand that stems from a classic and formal style of clothing, shaped by the great Neapolitan sartorial tradition, but revamped in a more contemporary way. The shapes and tailoring of the garments are never deconstructed or reinvented but simply adapted to a more modern, and if possible, an even more comfortable fit.

Salvatore Piccolo’s finely honed perception and innate good taste enable him to source fabrics that are original and, naturally, of the finest quality. Over 70% of the fabrics used are created ad hoc in reputable Italian factories. Patterns and vintage motifs, special finishes, antique materials each element becomes characteristic of an extremely sophisticated and superior elegance.
The choice of colours contributes to make his style more contemporary but at the same time classic.

Concept and creation. Knowledge, know-how and savoir-faire. Artisan and fashion designer. All of these labels and roles are ephemeral with Salvatore Piccolo. He is equally designer, entrepreneur and tailor; he takes an active and passionate part in the production process, from the collection design through to the choice of fabrics and the training of his tailors and pattern makers. He is involved in the management of his influential clients and meetings with entrepreneurs and buyers. His shirts and jackets are not only “hand-made”, but “hand-envisaged”.

Expert hands and an industrious mind, strong creative intuition and finely honed cutting skills… Salvatore Piccolo’s clothes seem to be not just made-to-measure but “designed-to-measure” onto the body and soul. His priority is to satisfy the human being’s most genuine and most profound need for elegance, stepping way beyond the superficiality of fashion and even beyond tradition. Elegance comprises interiority, colours, refinement and subtle equilibrium.
